swollen eye - help

reptile Jun 20, 2006 03:45 PM

A buddy of mine has a leopard & called me to ask what the problem might be. I'm a panther man myself (chameleons) so I can't help him out w/out possbily giving him the wrong information. If anyone out there has more info on eye problems please post. Also too he says she's active & just got done shedding but isnt eating.

Thanks,
Tom

If she just finished shedding, there is a possibility that she failed to shed the skin around her eye and it has now dried and caused a problem. If she lives on loose substrate or has loose substrate somewhere in her tank (sand, soil, etc) she could have gotten a particle in her eye. Either way, your buddy's best bet would be to get her to a good herp vet since eyes are very delicate and should be treated by a professional.

Good luck!
