Name that Snake - Picture not included

stiletto Jun 20, 2006 10:52 PM

A couple of years ago my wife had found a snake in the front yard hiding in a leaf pile. I have wondered what type it was, but have never seen a picture of something quite like it.

I live in the Orlando area, and presume it is a local variety. It was about 1 foot long, so it was still young and had its full young snake coloration. It looked to me like a young everglades rat snake, had the same light brownish color with darker brownish blotches. But the blotches were very circular. More then any corn snake I have seen. The coloration was a touch coppery. Very pretty snake, wish I had taken a picture of it now. Didn't know what type of snake it was, and I generally don't like to play too much with a snake when I don't know what type it is.

I would think it was either a yellow or everglades juvenile... but the circular part makes no sense to me.....
