How long is my snake?

That is a nice looking snake, and a good photo too. Still, you can't tell from that photo if the snake is a male or female. Foreman guessed correctly, but the second picture couldn't have given him a clue. Let's be realistic, most of the time you have to probe them to be sure. I have looked at the photo posted by Kathy Love on her site of Corn Snake tails showing just above the vent on down and I didn't see that distinct difference that she seems to be able to see from their tails.

I agree, probing is the way to go. But I will add that just looking is fairly easy on adult black rats if not to say almost obvious.

I agree. It `s pretty easy to see in rat snakes over 3ft long. If it`s got alot of tail it`s probably male. LOL!

A rat snake is one of the easiest snakes IMHO to tell the sex of just by looking.
