Uroplatus henkeil hatchling rack

I've got 6 eggs incubating now, with more sure to come, so I started to consider how I was going to house all thos little baby leaftails. So, after consulting with many experinced keepers, I've settled on this system.

Those are 20Qt (5 Gallon) sterilite tubs with custom front opening doors, and side vents. They are all plumbed to a ultrasonic humidifier, with valves allowing me to humidify some and leave others dry. Each row is illuminated by a standard 2x 40w shop light.

I will be putting cork on the back wall (when it gets here), pothos in the half pot on the side wall, snake plant in a pot on the floor of the cage, with bamboo polls for them to move about on. I will put a cushy layer of sphagnum moss on the floor, for impact protection in case of a dive bomb, and for humidity retention; this layer can be cheaply and easily changed as it gets soiled.

Let me know what you think.

Looks great. Gotta love fairly simple and effective means of housing. How long did it take per tub to hinge the lids etc? Also what did you use to hinge them?

aout 20 minutes per cage to do all the hotglue and screen work... the hinges and vents are all made of black aluminum window screen.

Thanks for the comments,

Awesome setup! That rack looks very functional yet simple. Could you take close-up pictures of how you hinged the front lid/door on them? Just curious how you got them to hinge.

Thanks for sharing! Great job!!
