I am a sucker for nice Wamena's. Definitely my favorite locality type out there. That one is beautiful. Good luck with them, and Im sure you wont be able to have only two. If you are like me, then you might end up with a basement full, lol.

Does Troy/Franz Herp have a website?

MegF Jun 22, 2006 12:06 PM

Yes. Its www.frantzherp.com Both of mine have never refused a meal since I got them and each ate 3 days after arrival. My Sorong was a yearling when I got her, my Jayapura was a few months old. He's just turning 1 year old next week. Probed as a male, but I'm going to recheck to make sure.

Meg, I would say if it probed as a male, there's no need to recheck. It's females that sometimes need to be rechecked. Although, if it probed deep and doesn't end up breeding, then recheck.......recheck.......and recheck again. Then put a male in and hope you don't have 2 males. lol.

Here's one that was sold to me as a male. I probed it 10 scales deep.....male right? WRONG.....female.

10 scale probe female that gotta be close to an inch! was she a 6 footer? .
heres a pic i took of a sorong fem.2 year old in sunlight.Chris

Brandon Osborne Jun 25, 2006 09:41 AM

Yes Chris, she's around 6' and 1800 grams or so. She got an extra year of feeding because I thought she was a male. If I recall, the probe actually went deeper than an inch. Body shape, head shape, feeding habits, and behavior are what clued me in......so I stuck a male in with her and within 15 minutes they were locked up. Here's the male I used with her.

Well, my Sorong was sold to me as female and she certainly eats like one. We'll double check Whisper soon though.
