Newbie Question: FL Laws & Easterns...

toaster529 Jun 21, 2006 12:05 PM

Hello. I am having trouble finding laws in the state of FL regarding keeping Indigos. (Specifically Eastern, but I'm curious about all species.) Didn't see anything on myfwc.com or google.

I have friends in Ohio that had them but I could not get the things across state lines when I moved here.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Greg

You just aren't allowed to keep Drymarchon corais couperi in Florida. That's a bummer, but because it states only D.c.couperi, it makes it so you CAN keep any of the other subspecies.

They're all cool, so set your sites on any of the other Dry's.

Thanks for your help.

By other species, you mean the texas and what else?
Forgive me, I'm a crocodilian guy w/ a love for indigos and blackheads, but not much knowledge beyond that.

thx.

That would be Texas indigos, Mexican west coast indigos, black-tail cribos, unicolor cribos and yellow-tail cribos.
As has already been stated, it's sad native Floridians are not afforded the opportunity to work with their native herpetofauna crown jewel, but that doesn't mean you can't have the "Dry" experience!

best of luck to you,

Jeff
