Psychotic Blackmilk problem?

jasonmc Jun 21, 2006 02:32 PM

One of my Black milks is acting nuts! It will be kicking it doing nothing like many snakes do, and suddenly lunge out striking at I don’t know. She gets a mouth full of woodchips and then looks at me like what the hell! I took her out of her enclosure to inspect her, and she seems fine.
Could she be going into estrus? Or might she be crazy?
I put her back with my male, and wow looks like they might be doing the hibbity dippity.

Well, I’m getting off the chips and switching to the news paper sub straight.

Has this behavior happened to any other of you black milk, or other snake owners?

Please help!

Thanks:
Jason Mc

I have a black pine that has been doing something similiar (striking /thrashing at the ground every once in a while). Although he was not getting anything stuck in his mouth. I still switched to newspaper. He's just about stopped doing it, but the interesting thing is, if I take him outside he never does it. He was ONLY doing it inside his cage. I even switched his cage. My pine was part of a LONG term breeding pair, but now is not. This is his first year not breeding. I wonder if this has anything to do with it? My vet could find nothing wrong him.

Keep us posted.
