Anyone know some good spots to view wild American Croc's in the Miami area?
black point marina or turkey point power plant
hi thanks for the reply, I dont think it would be possible for us to access Turnkey Point. I looked up Black Point and I keep getting results for Black Point Marina, is this what you are refering to? Have you viewed C. acutus here personaly?
I am trying to plan out some interesting croc related things to do while on a trip to Miami, we have a bunch of facility visits set up, I just thought id would be interesting to do some "in the wild" viewing.
True, its unlikely FPL will let you on site, I've been there but only because we do contract work for FPL(and Joe Waz helps us with acutus work in Costa Rica).
I have seen acutus at Croc Lakes Refuge. Drive down Card Sound Rd past the toll bridge and you can park along the road. I had a FWC officer point a croc out to me that he saw while on patrol. There's no guarantee you'll see any, but its possible. Also, you could drive down to Flamingo. Sometimes they're down there cruising around.
Thanks Matt, im meeting a big over sea's croc guy and a big Miami local croc guy while im down in Miami. I am just trying to make sure my friend from over sea's has a nice visit and see's lots of exciting crocodile stuff while he is here.
I have a local facilities mapped out, Jose's place in Miami, Everglades Safari and I know we will be visiting Parrot Jungle as the giant croc they have there origianlly came from my friend.
I just thought it would be cool to check out some acutus in the wild, I will check out the place to mentioned. (thanks again).
Hi,crocodile king, as far as i know, your friend is expected to be at Turkey Point with Joe - have fun, guys.
Ralf
How'd the CSG meeting go? I couldn't make it due to lack of vacation time and need to make it back to Costa Rica later this year for surveys.

Hi Matt,
I think it was a good meeting we had, focused on African crocodiles and their conservation and management. Many workshops beside were good and successful, I guess. Hope to see you at the next meeting 2008 - in Bolivia!
