Second Eastern King clutch of the year

Sean Jun 21, 2006 10:23 PM

The only other pair that bred for me this year was another male Eastern from Wakulla Co., FL with another female Eastern from Taylor Co., FL. Here they are paired up back in early May.

The male is my largest Eastern measuring about 63 inches in length now.

The female is not quite as big but she's well over 4 feet.

Today she laid 15 eggs and 1 slug.

Thanks Keith. I need to post some pics of when I first found him compared to now. He was alot darker then, close to black. Makes me wonder if it's age, the type of food he's eating now in captivity, or something else that affected the change in his color.

How are your two WC from this year looking?? Gravid??

Sean Jun 22, 2006 04:00 PM

I assume you're referring to the AK population? If so, I've got three females from this year and none were gravid or bred. All are about 3 feet or under so I'm thinking they were just too small this year. But next year they should all be ready! All three are eating mice like crazy!!

Oh man that sucks!!! I got to wait another year for a pair from those??? Oh well, it will make the babies sweeter to get I guess.

Later Jason
