Question about aspidites incubation

ghettozoohouse Jun 22, 2006 12:30 AM

What is the problem with getting the eggs too wet?
Has anyone personally had an egg go bad after getting it wet?
In the Book called "The Reproductive Husbandry of Pythons and Boas" by Richard Ross it states differently on page 96.
The book says that it is only true in the case of Chondropython viridis.
They say they normally mist the eggs.

What is everyone elses experience?

Eggs should not have condensation on them, but the inside of the container is ok for it to occur. Wetter than that could be fatal. Pretty much the same for all pythons.

Ross and Marzek's book is a good one BUT it was written quite a few years ago, before alot of aspidites were being bred in captivity in fact. Womas require a high ambient humidity with little to no contact moisture. They respond poorly to "wet" conditions. Ive got a half dozen clutches under my belt and NEVER allow them to get too wet.
