CHANGE OF MIND?

mustaf91 Jun 22, 2006 01:11 AM

whats up with this? my gecko looked ready to shed a couple of days ago and i waited and waited but it didn't. The next day it was still a little bit white and still is today on his head and tail. Did he change his mind or something? and decide to shed later. I know for sure he didnt shed without knowing. This would've been only the second time hes shed since ive had him. The first time it all passed in one day and the next morning he was bright and shiny. So id really appreciate it if someone could try to explain this to me, thanks

I know this isn't the only reason for a varying shed appearance, but when the moisture level changes in my enclosures, the moisture level of my leos change too. Basically, if the skin (including that that is ready to be shed) is more moist, it may not look as dry and papery, hence giving the illusion that they may have decided to change their mind. I'm not sure if this is that case for you or not, but just thought I'd throw it out there. Good Luck!

yea thanks, he just shed last night. Yesterday morning it was odd that his head and tail werent whitish anymore but his middle section was. But later the rest of his body turned white and he shed

are you stupid? geckos dont just change their minds, "oh i dont think im going to shed today". they shed when they need to, and if they start to shed but dont finish, its your fault for not having enough moisture or a moist hide. Get a moist hide in there, and keep it moist.
