Suriname Boa photos from today...

Riobravoreptiles Jun 22, 2006 08:56 AM

.... these are my male Pokigron breeders. They've just now gotten back in shape from courting, breeding and not eating from about mid-December through the first of March.. They did not want to hold still!

We're going to see how they did pretty soon now!

Have a great day.

Awesome animals!
Most people breed for no black, but imho the perfect amount of black, as expressed in those two, is the bomb!
Their saddles look outlined, kind of like a jungle..sweet.
What is pokigron?

Things always get cloudy, just before transformation.

Hi,

'Pokigron' is a place-name in South-central Suriname (south of the impoundment on the Suriname river). Many Boas from that area are exceptionally clolorful and well-marked and their offspring tend to be very beautiful.

Thanks for the comments.. BTW, I consider the black markings on redtails to be 'standard equipment' and not at all objectionable. It also seems that with the redtails the black pigment is somehow tied with the intensity of the color.
