new to bearded dragons and have a health

bagnoschiuma Jun 22, 2006 10:59 AM

so i just obtained a small baby bearded dragon and though my mom is a vet, she is not very good with lizards-so my little one is dragging his/her front right leg. It can put pressure on it, but it looks as though its either a fracture or something in the shoulder. It is eatting, but is not as active and also has gone to the bathroom quite a few times. It looks as though there is sand stuck on the arm and on two fingers-any ideas of what to do would be great. I got him from a friend who apparently bought them from a Petsmart I believe. I would really like to get this little one healthy if possible. Thanks for any help!

Very hard to say without knowing the care history for this dragon, such as basking temp, presence of a UVB bulb, what and how much he is eating etc.

However, it does sound like either a fracture or MBD, both conditions need to be treated by a vet who is experienced in treating reptiles. Perhaps your mother knows one. If not then best thing to do is find a reptile vet in your area. Your mother should be able to do an x-ray to check for fractures, blood tests to check for blood calcium levels etc.
