Hello,
My 18 month old female BD has started to sleep for long periods even all day sometimes (been going on for about a week). She is shedding but normally this doesn't have any effect. Even when I offer food she pops an eye open and then closes it and goes back to sleep. She is still eating veggies at some point in the day though. She has very good weight and seems really healthy.
Temps,UVB etc are all fine. Just wondered if any body else has seen this.
She has just been moved to a new viv (48x24x24).
Any thoughts??........

Sounds to me like she is brumating which is a type of hybernation. Check your temps and signs of sickness. If those are good then it's most likely brumation.

I have heard this too, but isnt it really REALLY late for them to be brumating?

My female is in fact doing the same thing.. she is approx 1 year old.. She is also very healthy looking, nice and chubby, alert when she is awake, nice fat pads on her head. Mine will though eat from my hand but it seems like she doesnt want to eat on her own. And she hasnt been eating as much either. After I removed the cave she was sleeping in all of the time from the cage she kinda dug around for a bit and made herself another home over in the hot end of the tank underneith of a huge stick in the shade. I'm not sure at all what is going on with her but I am kinda worried. I'm waiting for her next poop so I can get it to a vet for a fecal. How exactly do I go about collecting the sample (I am using sand for substrate, so will that matter?) and how "fresh" does it have to be? How long will it last? Thanks for any info anybody else might have!

some vets can take a poop sample out while you r there.
if they give you medijnes tell vet you need to replace good bacterias ,thats very importent.
