What do you think of albino x albino breedings?

breeding two homozygous animals together can creat unwanted mutations/deformities. It can also be a success, but not worth the risk in my opinion.
Not to burst your bubble or anything, but it really is a very bad idea. Yeah, I know it's been done successfully in the past. I know that it's the best way to get the "highest" number of Albinos in a litter. Unfortunately there's no such thing as, "an unrelated Albino". Yeah, I know people advertise they can offer "unrelated" pairs, but it's just not "possible". The Kahl Strain Albino is the most "inbred" gene out there. You need to try to diversify your bloodlines as much as possible. I don't know how many Kahl Strain Albinos, Hets, and Possible hets are out there. I do know that they are "all related". They can "all" be traced back to that Original Albino male that first produced them. In my opinion it's best to try to breed Albino to Het, or Het to Het. It's the best way to avoid deformities. That is, if the deformities in Albinos is actually genetic.
Anyway that's my 2 cents. You can actually breed what ever you'd like to. After all, they're your snakes.
I don't have 2 albinos. I was just curious to see what everyone thought. I agree with the 2 posts that albino x albino is not a good idea. IMO, the albino gene is probably the weakest of all genes because of the inbreeding, homozygous x homozygous, etc. The best way is use fresh blood (het not homo form). I know I'll probably get put on blast for stating that the albino gene is weak but from what I've read and seen, there haven't been many people doing this, which leads me to believe that the deformities and weakness of the albino gene is the reason.

Michael

Yada Yada....not getting into this debate, but by this logic.....aren't we all related as well? Hmmm! lol, take care!
Paul
But that's not a debate I want to get into. LOL.
It's a questions of how many generations have passed. You may be related to me but how many generations ago would that be? By then so much outcrossed blood has mixed it doesn't matter anymore. That day will come with albinos too, but not in our lifetimes.

common things when breeding albino to albino. slugs, stillborns, bug eyed, no eyes, inside out, kinks, and heartbreak.
Not worth doing it at all. Breed het to albino and get 50% albinos. That is your best bet.
I ran into a guy this weekend in a local petstore. Holding a breedable albino male. I am of course into boa morphs, and started a conversation with him. First thing that struck me funny was that he wouldnt let anybody get near it. He was holding it like it was made of glass. I guess I understand, it is an expensive snake, Im not too mad about that.
what I was getting worked up about, he's planning to breed it, and is doing EVERYTHING wrong....
Problem #1- He plans to breed it to another albino female. Lets just say, NO NO NO!!!!! Dont do it
Problem #2- The female albino, is a sibling from the same litter, both were 2004.
NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!
I went into explanation of things that could go wrong, why not to do it, not only is it albino x albino, but SIBLINGS? OUCH! He defended his arguement and said that the guy he bought them from, (which I will remain nameless because he is a Kingsnake guy) said it is ok to breed siblings, but after the 4th generation of siblings, its a bad idea
I shook my head and gave up
