2006 Egg Production - Your Results

RussBates Jun 22, 2006 07:45 PM

IF you don't mind, could everyone that is breeding thayeri this year post the number of clutches that were laid, the approximate % of eggs that were duds, and the the approx % of viable eggs( you expect to hatch. If you had a snake that laid more than one clutch you can indicate that too.

My results look like this:

5 (1st) clutches
total of 53 eggs laid
53% were duds
47% look good and should hatch

Just curious since I saw that Mark also experienced duds in his thayeri eggs.

Thanks,
Russ

Out of two females’ total of 34 eggs, 26 good, for 76 percent good.

Female one: Clutch 1, 13 out of 13 good
Clutch 2, any day now

Female two: Clutch 1, 7 out of 11 good
Clutch 2, 6 out of 10 good

I only have the two breeders this year, next year I will probably have one more ready and in 2008, five females total. Also, I really didn’t want to double clutch them this year but they are both double clutching without being with the male a second time (with fertility so far).

good stuff Rick. Hopefully you'll hatch out some cool stuff.

This is the first year in many years that I had such a low fertility percentage.

I wonder where everyone else is these days...the forum has gone cold. Everyone muct be on vacation
