I unexpectedly found a garter snake on Tuesday(I was babysitting and it was sitting under the porch). When I pulled it out, it seemed to be kinda scratched up. Like the scales appeared gone (but healed) in some spots. She (I think it's a she because it's somewhat big) also had a huge bulge near the center of her body. I thought it was a pregnant female but it appears to be gone after spotting a huge turd in her cage that I'm temporarily keeping her in. Should I keep her? The family did not want it in their backyard so they let me bring it home.
