I wish I could get my torts to eat Alfalfa!

Try soaking the mazuri in some liquid that they like. I used watermelon juice. Slowly decrease the concentration of the juice you use (i.e., dilute it with water) over some arbitrary time period until its mostly water.

They may not do tricks, but they can "learn" visual associations, it seems to me (after some experimentation with food items).

good luck

If they already like alfalfa, then just moisten a few pellets and mix it in with alfalfa. Sort of a casserole. I use this method to get my turtles or torts to eat a different food. Lots of the food they like, and a little of what they don't. You may need to chop the alfalfa up a little so it mixes well.

Give them time to adjust. Since they are already eating good foods, there's no need to rush into giving them something like pellets.

Once they get a taste for it, they might not want anthing else! Of the 8 I keep, the pancake was the last to acquire a taste for Mazuri, now it goes crazy for it.

soaking the Mazuri in a light green(green food coloring) water. Slowly lighten it up after several feedings. You could also try chopping the hay and mixing it in with soaked Mazuri.
The first worked well for me on a stubborn Leopard Hatchling.
