Need help/ideas

Linda G Jun 23, 2006 09:14 AM

OK, I am starting work on a bigger home for Digit. I
am utilizing a bedroom and I am going to install a pseudo
wall to give him 1/2 the bedroom. There is a window that
overlooks my back yard where his main basking area will be.
I need some ideas on the best way to install the lighting.
I want to make sure that he will not be able to get on top
of them or knock them over somehow. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated. Also, I am thinking of clever things to use
for him to get around on inside. I want to avoid real logs
as I am allergic to mold. I will do a cat tree from floor to
ceiling but would like some other ideas.

Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated and for those
of you that utilize this kind of set-up please mention any
hazards that you can think of. One thing I did think of is
him jumping and falling to the floor which are hard wood. I
am going to buy a cheap piece of lumbar and staple the spongy
stuff like you use for window seats. Then I will cover it with
an indoor/outdoor tarps. This will prevent my floor from getting
pooped on and provide a soft landing for him.

Thanks and sorry for the long post.
Linda

A question- I thought of using cat towers but worried that the thick carpet might be a problem with their claws. Is this true?

I removed the carpet and replaced it with sissal rope. He
loves his cat tree

what's sissal rope? Does the carpet come off fairly easily? I could just cover it with indoor/outdoor carpet that I have around unless you think this other is better.

Well instead of logs how about using the coated wire shelves you can buy from home depot, My iguana has free roam of my bedroom and i have those ALL over the room from ground to ceiling to all the way around, you can cover them up with plastic plants if you want or leave them, they are white so they don't look bad and my ig loves them, he actually inherited them from my last Iguana who died at 12 yrs had him from a hatchling, he got a tumor, that was many yrs ago and this new guy is awesome, doesn't take his place but is really great. Anyway yeah those shelves work great WAY easy to clean and i got This new guy to go to the bathroom where my old one use to lol. so check those out i bet you'd love them.
