Shipping snakes

GUitarMAster1721 Jun 23, 2006 10:59 AM

Hi, I have a few snakes I want to sell and I'm new to this. Can someone give me the basics of how to package them and what services to use etc.? I live in Pennsylvania and I think Fedex prohibits the shipping of snakes but not lizards.

You are correct. All ground carriers prohibit shipping snakes as a general rule; however, you can go through the process of obtaining authorization to ship them through FedEX. UPS and DHL do not have this option. DHL does offer similiar authorization for some live animals but snakes are not one of them (regardless what your DHL rep may tell you). There is a great deal of confusion regarding ground carriers permitting the shipment of snakes because some local offices "do their own thing". When in doubt, just read their policies which are available online.

As for shipping snakes and reptiles in general. Check out the attached link for a helpful tutorial.
