What are your plans for your CA boas?

voodoomagik Jun 23, 2006 11:39 AM

I’ve noticed lately that a lot of people are starting to breed different localities if CA boas together. For instance, Nics and Sonorans, Hogs and Type II anerys sometimes of unknown origin, T albino leopards, etc.. I was just wondering what everybody’s plans out there were for those of you planning to produce CAs-or are you planning on breeding your CAs to the mainland (Colombian) stuff?
Are you mixing or planning to try to produce "pure" nics, etc..
Oh, also, anybody got an 05 female 100% het type II anery nic?
I just got a little 06 male type II anery nic and am looking for a girlfriend for him...

Hoping to keep mine (mostly nicaraguans) Nicaraguan with no crossing. But I could easily change my mind later....it would be interesting to see a type II argentine cross...hmmmmm!

Thanks, Bob.
For this one, I was really thinking like breeding CA to CA-like a Leopard to a T pos. nic. You're thinking "no" on that, too?
Hey, don't forget that round 3 of updated pics featuring your nics you promised us!

robertmcphee Jun 23, 2006 02:38 PM

today or atleast this weekend. THe nics don't cooperate as well as the others....lol.

As far as ca X ca......im still up in the air, there will be some amazing animals produced by some of these crosses so that is a good thing.

What I am hoping is that we can breed "pure" if there is such a thing to bring out some more amazing morphs that are still "pure".

I have definitely had to change my position over the last year or so, but bottom line as long as animals are not misrepresented and the buyer always knows what they are getting especially in the instance of crosses or hybrids, I have no problem.

Pics of the Nics to come soon.

Thanks, Bob!
I love your nic collection!
I have 3 pretty recently acquired myself that I think you'd be interested in seeing. I have a pair of normals with nice connected patterns and a little anery male. We have plans for a photoshoot this weekend, but we're not so good with this whole posting pic thing yet.
If you want to see the male anery though, email me. I have some pics that they guy I bought him from send me and I can forward it. I'd be happy to get your opinion.
Keep in mind, for some reason, I can get yahoo on this stupid computer, but I should be home in an hour or two.

The good thing about nics is that they're stioll importing fresh blood in droves. Plenty of possibility for new morphs. I've seen your "jaguar" nic. I hope that proves out for you. Is it a male or a female?
How old is it now?

robertmcphee Jun 23, 2006 03:03 PM

It is a male and will be breeding this year. We will see how things work out....Im getting excited already...lol

Wow!
How big is it?
What year is it?
What are you breeding it to?

I plan to keep my C.A.boa's pure in fact I even hate seeing people just calling them C.A. boa's we might just as well start saving time and call Colombian's, Peruvian's, Surinames, Bolivian's, Argentine's,etc.South American's cause that's what they are right ? Now that's of my chest, I currently have Nicaraguan's, Honduran's, Costa Rican's, and Hog Island's and I don't plan to cross them, however I do have a high orange Nic. female that if crossed to my pastel albino male would make some killer babies IMO

That's funny. The same thing had kind of occurred to me though not to that extreme. I was thinking more within the same subspecies (Boa constrictor imperator) that if we did start crossing them, we would have to start calling them CA BCI and SA BCI and I wasn't really thinking of the other subspecies.

Hi,

I plan on breeding pure nics. I have my Colombian morph projects and don't plan on muddying(sp?) the waters anymore than necessary.
I have an 05 type II but she's not for sale

I appreciate your input.
Yep, you've sent me pics of your collection before.
You have some KILLER animals and a great crew, too!
You'd be proud of me, I've expanded my collection a bit since we last emailed!
I’ve got 4 suris, a hog, a peruvian, a Guyana and 3 nics to add to the morphs!
