Since the aquarium was kinda tall, I made the light fixtures drop down, and the lids go on top of the light fixtures.
As it works out, I don't need all three incandescent fixtures. I use a double tube flourescent for a pair of 36" UVB bulbs.
Incandescents are run from 10:30am to 9:00pm. The flourescents run from 11:30am to 6:00pm. They're automated by a pair of X10 modules, and controlled by a program on the PC.

for secure basking ! They can get pinned under rocks with no base and squished. Because they try and dig under it and it moves. So bricks have also worked well for me.
