....I am planning to purchase suitable housing for the litter of BRB's I should should soon be having and housing as well as quite a few of PRB's within the next 3 to 5 weeks. I have decided to go with the shoebox size because I think they would be more useful overall and have a few questions. Are the racks designed for this size of boa basically escape proof? I know how long a BRB can stay in a shoebox, but just how much larger are the Peruvian babies? Will a shoebox size enclosure suit them well for about 6 months?

Linda,
....Shoebox size box will be fine for a Peruvian for the first 4 to 8 months depending upon how much you feed them and how fast they grow.

Since I only have home made and Boaphile Rhino Raxx. I really do like the Boaphiles, right now I have three 30 slotters for a totla of 90 slots. Never had a baby escape. They keep the humidity very well for the babies and with a proportional thermostat (I use Helix) the temps are very stable.

Dave,
I will look closer at the Rhinos, yours look really nice. Do you/did you drill any holes in those containers for the Rainbows? Those boxes look fairly rigid....is it easier and more visually appealing to melt a hole into them?
My main decision about which rack system to buy is currently based on the width and how easy they will be for me to find suitable locations. I definately need a dedicated snake room...if only I would stop seeing snakes I must have or promised to buy.

So far have not drilled any holes, My babies thrived in them with all the humidity. Just had to be dilligent about checking every day and cleaning whenever found dirty at all, feces or urates. They are hard plastic and were drilled from Boaphile with one hole for the knob.

Dave,
I am certainly leaning towards a Boaphile rack...the one with 30 boxes, but the original version rather than the Rhino primarily because of the price. How long did it take you to receive yours? I am concerned that I won't have it in time since it takes upto 6 weeks once they are paid. I like the width better for the Boaphile's than the other companies.

Best I could say would be to call Jeff directly and find out when you could get what. My racks took over 6 weeks to get, not sure how much longer, had lots going on with snake room
re-arranging then. Good thing was I didn't really need them when I placed the order.
