I bought a white's tree frog a couple of weeks ago and everything has been fine so far, he ate a bunch of crickets and he's been pretty happy/healthy until the last couple of days.
Something’s really wrong with him now, he's how during the day just sprawled out on the bottom of the tank, I thought he was dead but then when I touched him he tried to get away but he's all messed up like he doesn't have the strength or coordination to get away- it's really sad I don't know what to do, he wasn't like this a few days ago.
Two things have happened recently that may or may not have caused this
the first thing is, I put one of those heat lamps above the tank but because I don't want it to burn him I put it really high above the tank, it was actually so high above the tank that it didn't really change the temp in the tank at all, but I thought I could use it to view him at night.
I'm thinking maybe he's all messed up because that light has been on for a few days non stop and maybe it's not the kind that they can't see at night (it's red not purple) so it's been keeping up for the past few days maybe.
the other thing is the introduction of fertilizer, a friend of mine who keeps dart frogs gave me this fertilizer that he uses on his plants and he dilutes it with water and then pours it only in the base of his plants, he says it works wonders and doesn't mess his dart frogs up because it's diluted
but I don't know if that's the cause of my whites having issues, if it doesn't bother his darts I figured it wouldn't bother the whites. Also I didn't spray it in the tank or anything I just poured a cup of the water/fertilizer mix at the base of the plants.
I think it would be highly unlikely that he would absorb it since he never really hangs out at the bottom of the plants or eats them or anything...
If this is the cause of my whites problems how can I reverse it?
I'm afraid he might die and I’m not sure what do to
