WOFL (Orlando, Florida) 21 June 06 Palm Beach man shoots gator to save neighbor, dogs in peril
Loxahatchee, Fla. (AP): Sky Budin of Loxahatchee says the last thing he would ever do is injure an animal. But he shot a five-foot alligator because, he says, "it was him or us." A neighbor called Budin early yesterday morning after an alligator crept onto her property and began hissing at her dogs. By the time he arrived, the woman was fending off the reptile with a pitchfork. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission gave Budin a warning for shooting the gator twice in the head. Wildlife officials warn that shooting an alligator could cause it to become more aggressive if it isn't killed immediately.
