BARRINGTON TIMES (Rhode Island) 22 June 06 Turtle and dog all tangled up
On a recent Tuesday afternoon, Marcia Weeden's dog Tryggy had a close encounter of the snapping kind. The Siberian husky got its run-line tangled around a female snapping turtle that had ventured into Ms. Weeden's back yard and laid its eggs under a shed. A brave neighbor untangled the two animals and within a few minutes the turtle made its way to Echo Lake — located a short walk from Ms. Weeden's home. Folks who found the turtle and dog all tied up said it wasn't clear whether the turtle had been slowly approaching the dog or if the dog's line had pulled the turtle closer. It was clear, however, that neither animal "seemed pleased with the forced encounter."
