Olive Python

graynightblue Jun 25, 2006 01:21 AM

Can anyone out there point me to some reputable breeder of Olive Pythons? I have heard some wonderful things about them and have fallen in love with their looks. They are simply beautiful. I am looking to get a new baby and I am very interested in the Olives. Thank you.

Very good choice! They're the COOLEST!!!

Jeff Hartwig without question- I've got an '05 from him, and found 2 others that have '05's from him, too, and we all had the same experience with him:

Awesome snake! Gah...makes me miss my old pair more and more. Why did I ever even think about selling them? Hindsight sucks, lol.

Haha, that sounds good to me! Those ones on the classifieds recently were really tempting...but I just don't have the room, and something about them, they don't look as good as the ones I had.

Damn man- sorry to hear.

Why is this species so hard to breed?

I spoke to Dave Barker about it. They bred them, but not often. My female is probably too fat, although it's more important for the males to be lean, which mine are. He said you see copulation, plenty of it, but thhe females don't ovulate. Maybe next year I'll try a bigger temp drop. I'll probably see him at Daytona and ask. Same with Apadoras.

Thse are my wifes favorite snakes, she loves the satin look of their skin. The Barkers had two different lines one brown and the other more olive. Both are nice. Bob Clark still lists them, but he always lists at a premium price, too bad the Barkers stoped most of the stock they once had.
