handling bowl feeding crickets

anafranil Jun 25, 2006 03:04 PM

Due to a misunderstanding with my insect dealer I'm left out with lots of crickets, acheta domestica.I always keep some black/field crickets because of their ease of handlind, they are very easy to bowl feed them and when you see your bowl empty you know all of them ended inside your cham. With achetta domestica you are sure almost all of them jumped out after your cham got one.Out of curiosity, how do you handle those ckrickets?
I don't expect much out of such a question but I'll give it a try...

How big/deep is your bowl? I find that using a plastic critter keeper type box it is too tall and big for most of them to bother jumping out of. I nestle the box under a plant so the cham can climb down right to the rim to shoot. Be careful of the black field crix...make sure your cham is getting other soft bodied food, as the shell on the black field crix is harder to digest and could impact.
