How Hungry are YOUR darts???

crestygecko Jun 25, 2006 04:52 PM

Question...

How many Fruit flies should an average sub adult dart be eating??? My Cintro's feed like crazy eating about 30 fruit flies per frog. My Leucs eat about 20 per frog, and my Azureus around 20 aswell. What is the average ????

Thanks all

cresty

That sounds a bit right to me. Mine will eat more then that at times...course they don't move much after, only for loosening their belts. I just watch for overfattness or overskinniness when I give them their portions, much like I used to for my ex-husband.

Thanks Maggie,

I picked up some crix today, dont exactly know how many to feed them but as I opened the container about 20 or so jumped out looking for freedom and ended up jumping right into the lions den. Now that was a masssacre!!!! Little spinny legs being flung everywhere, the screeches of the smaller crix as they tried to escape, and the one that did escape where hunted down and devoured. It was brilliant. FF don't put up a fight but crix, atleast for a few seconds.LOL Thanks for the info maggie

That's interesting. I've never heard pin head crickets make any noise. The older ones call by rubbing their legs together, but don't have a vocal apparatus otherwise. My darts do indeed go for them when I order a bunch for a special treat, however.

In any event, be sure to dust the crickets with calcium/D3 and vitamins when you feed them, the same as fruit flies. A combination of Rep-Cal and Herptivite is well documented as a good combination.

Hi Cresty:

Must of been quite a show! I always say that those Crix deserve a last meal B4 I serve 'em up though. They don't much get a good meal at the pet store and then end up as a hollow shell inside my darts. Some outfits give good stuff to eat while Crix are waiting for their doom B4 being shipped, but I just make sure I give a 24 hour period on death row and give a final nutritious gourmet feast so that when the massacre happens the darts can share the benefits.
