making a cage

gyke Aug 01, 2003 04:34 PM

Is it safe to make a cage out of pine for my collards? It would be sealed with paint and polyurathane. I read that the sap could be poisonous to some types of lizards and just what to make sure its safe before I use it. Thanks.

I would reckon (redneck terminology from F20 heritage) that it is safe, as long as you seal it first...provided you put them in it after the urethane sealant dries LOL.

i wouldnt risk it, i find that particle board is cheaper, looks better (then ply or presswood) and works just as good.
but it is pretty heavy. Mdf is another good alternative, but its usually more pricy, then theres always oak, which is reall expensive, but looks very nice.
