I picked this girl up from Neil Golli in February. This is my first tortoise so I wanted to put up some pics of her to see what everyone thinks about her growth for a yearling.
Thanks

So far so good!
Keep us posted.
Western Hermanns are one of the torts I would like to try one day. I think you made a good choice when you went with the Hermanns.
First off, beautiful tortoise, but I have to point out that it is not a western hermanns tortoise. You have an eastern hermanns tortoise (Testudo hermanni boettgeri). The guy Nick you purchased the animal from was selling "western hermanns" for a while on Kingsnake but they aren't the real thing. I have a lot of experience with both subspecies of hermanns tortoises and don't be alarmed because both are incredibly wonderful animals to work with but yours is definitley an eastern. I have diagrams out right now showing people how to properly differentiate the two tortoises and please feel free to check them out for yourself. People commonly mistake easterns for westerns and after seeing several breeders selling easterns as westerns I felt I needed to do something. Please go to the following link and view the photo diagram I put together for situations like yours as well as plenty of photos of both eastern and western hermanns tortoises: http://community.webshots.com/user/loon1103
Also, I put together an even more up to date hermanns tortoise diagram on the forums at this site: www.shelledwarriors.co.uk it is under the "Links/Caresheets" forum
Hope this helps
