I've always wondered if they weren't heavily influenced by nigra......food for thought?
That has crossed my mind many times.
I think the original animal came from northern MS? Can anyone confirm that? I remember seeing them at the AL show many years ago & talking to the guy who claimed to have been in on them since the first hatchlings. I think they would look better crossed into those coastal TX locales with the high yellow sides & even speckling....
JET, what are your thoughts on their origin?
Horridus
I read somewhere that someone was producing Lav.nigra and so i would'nt be surprized if Lav.specks are actually Lav.nigra-X-holbrooki, but then i would'nt even be surprized if holbrooki and nigra are actually mere variations of the same sub.
If the lavender did indeed originate from north MS then they are probably heavily influenced by nigra. I live in Starkville, MS and have caught a few kings around here I would consider to be intergrades, and we're bordering the zone of intergradation. Everything north of here I consider to have heavy nigra influence.
..isn't that one you got from me ?
If it is, I have no idea of its origins.
something tells me that the departed L.Lemke knew the origins of these, was'nt he the one who did the Lav.nigra?
And yes i got these these from you in '03 and "MUTTLY" was in the same shipment.
