some questions

Rouen Jun 26, 2006 07:54 AM

some of you may or may not recall a post I did last yr I believe about what the proper name for a group of turtles was.. we learned it was a "bale"

heres another one, are there any names for different sexes?
like goose and gander and so forth

and I know somewhere in the back of my brain the answer to this question is there somewhere but I cannot find it, so.. how long can a female carry an egg, I palpated my smallest female on may 5th and I swear I felt an egg, but she's not shown any signs of wanting to nest, or being egg bound, my other female who was gravid for less than 3 weeks has already laid her eggs.

According to http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/animals/Animalbabies.shtml

a baby turtle is called a hatchling,
a male turtle is called a male,
a female turtle is called a female

I don't know how long a female (term for a female turtle) can hold her eggs.
