Update - Finally in the market for a BRB

rubywitch Jun 26, 2006 09:28 AM

Hello all,
I was disappointed to find only 2 juvenile BRB's at the Indy show. Neither one particularly impressed me, they were both in the lighter browns and tans, not the brilliant reds I covet. The only other severe temptation was a sweet little Halloween Phase Amazon Tree Boa, but I don't feel exprienced enough at this point to take on a tree boa without for thog=ught and a lot more research.

I've bookmarked several sites mentioned here from my previous post and plan to follow up on them. However, I find myself really wanting to 'meet' the snake before I buy. My spoiled corn was an internet order from Don's South Mountain Reptiles and I couldn't be happier with either the snake or the transaction. But As lovely as baby photos on the web are I am leary to buy without a hands on meeting.

I will be traveling to Atlanta GA tomorrow for the week. I seem to remember that one of the highly reputable breeders of BRB is in GA, However I can't remember who it is. Can anyone give me a name and location? I'm also curious about the possiblity of of finding a BRB in Ga either from this breeder or a speciality reptile store (if anyone can give me the name of one?) and having it shipped to me when I return from ATL. Can this be done? Is this normal?

I hate to seem like such a difficult or fussy buyer, but my reptiles are all spoiled, pampered members of the family and I buy with the mentality that any new additions will be with me and be a part of my day-to-day life for the (hopefully) long length of their existance.

Thanks for all the help,
Ruby

If you want a really nice one, consider waiting a month or two. Get on a wait list for priority. Right now is the middle of birthing season. Those 2005's that are available are either the leftovers or holdbacks that are being let go. You can find some very nice '05's but you'll have to look. Probably most of the 06's have not even been born yet, only starting to see birthing posts within the last few weeks, this will pick up through July/August/September. The ones that have already been born may not be available yet, IMO, need to shed first (10 - 14 days) then eat at least twice (another week) before they can be sold. That places earliest for sale dates at birth plus three weeks.
