Dead snake!?

karinecarl Aug 01, 2003 04:51 PM

My corn snake is missing since 2 days... wednesday, i feed him and put it back in it's terrarium, he was in perfect shape and ate 2 mouses... yesterday, i wanted to take him but he wasn't in his normal hiding places, normally, he never dig, so i thought he could have escaped, but it is quite impossible with my terrarium setup, so, the only place he could be is in the substrat... he never do that, so i'm a little bit anxious... could he be dead in the substrat!?!?! perhaps it was choked!? is that possible!? Normally, he go out of his hidding places when the lights are turn off... but last nite i havent see him, i tried to find him in the substrat but no snake...

When it comes to snakes, there's no such thing as an escape-proof container. Especially little ones like that. (BTW, that's a gorgeous little critter! I hope you find him alive and well.) The good news is that I very much doubt that he suffocated or otherwise died from burrowing into the substrate. The bad news is that I'd bet he found a way out. Good luck, I hope you find him!

Often times, when their getting ready to shed they will find a nice hiding spot under the substrate to hang and wait for their shed to finish up. Good luck with her, she's beautiful. Take care, Scott.
