My paraguayan B&W are mating .. (woohoo) ...
I have been observing some fairly odd behaviour for the last few days, the male has been 'wobbling' his jowls around the female, seems to constantly follow close to her cloaca and has now started to try and mount her .. he is nibbling her neck, and scratching at the base of her tail ... this lasts for only a few minutes before he seems to wear himself out ... the female appears to be fairly receptive and raises her tail when he is scratching ... I do not think that there has yet been a successful copulation but am hoping that the activity will continue ...
They are both just about 3 and a bit years old, the male is 50", the female 43", both are in super condition.
I'd like a few pointers for what to keep looking out for, what to expect ... whats the gestation period before she lays eggs if indeed it is a success, what should be provided with regards to nesting material, should I raise humidity? feed different foods? separate them etc etc
There is a real dearth of information on their reproduction so any advise would be greatfully recieved.
Many thanks
Carl
