Three Year Nicaraguan T Pos Comparison..

amanda_burke Jun 26, 2006 12:50 PM

We were fooling around with some of our T positive Nics the other day and took these comparison pictures of a baby from this year, last year and 2004. I love these kind of pictures because you can see how they change as they grow and kind of get a feel for the different looks. The 2 year old is one that has a more sandy colored saddle, whereas the yearling will have more of a pumpkin orange saddle color with more color dispersed over his whole body. Not sure which look the baby will have yet, but the fun of these is waiting to see how they turn out! One of these days I'll put a few of the 2 year olds together so you can see the range of looks in the the littermates from 2004...really cool and subtle variations! Ignore the lump in the 2004 belly...she's quite the demanding eater! lol

Anyway, I've been sick for over a week and I figured I'd pass some time posting some pictures! lol

And just for fun, here are some pictures of a 25 lb. dolphin I caught back in April during a father/daughter fishing trip down at my dad's house in the Keys. Didn't get a chance to go back down during May when the fish were really biting like crazy(somebody has to take care of the snakes! lol) but my dad had quite a good run and I'm not complaining about this catch! For some reason I can't post the first picture we took of this fish but the color change was amazing...it started out so deep blue and green! Mahi Mahi are like neon lights in the water!

That is a great looking dolphin. We had a good trip after Memorial Day and caught our first dolphin. The colors are so much better in person and a camera can't come close to capturing the color especially in the pectoral fins. I like the blue color on the schoolies. I had never apreciated the striping they having until I saw them crashing baits. Taking pics of them is actually very similar to snakes where some of the colors have to been seen in person because pictures just don't do them justice.
The T look great. I look forward to seeing some combination morphs with them.

fishing trip on Memorial Day...it really is like paradise down there and it's so hard to come back home and leave the sun and pretty water down there! lol
Dolphin are definitely fun to catch and you are right about the colors being like the snakes...there is a few second window to catch them before they stress out and then it changes completely. It's definitely best in the water though! One time when we're at our house and you are at yours we'll have to arrange to meet up to fish together!

I think I will have to pick one of those up in the not too distant future. So that makes Blood, T-plus Colombian, T-plus Nicaraguan, Squaretail, and C.A. Motley, not too long of a list anymore.

hopefully I'll get a chance to go deep sea fishing in Puerto Rico these next couple of weeks, my grandfather's brother-in-law has a boat, so we'll have to see how that goes! They caught three Marlin last year of the southern coast of the Dominican Republic.

Amanda_Burke Jun 27, 2006 10:12 AM

We get some nice sailfish offshore by my dad's house and there are some white marlin but we haven't caught any yet. I'm also kind of curious to try sword fishing but I'm nervous to go out at night! lol Send some pics of your catches over after your trip!

Amanda,
....Nice snakes but did that bull Dolphin jump for you? The ones I have caught had their best colors when they were chasing bait and were all lit up.

It was actually a really fun one because we weren't trolling for long before it was hooked and all of a sudden it was like a neon bullet shooting all over the place. The colors are really unbelievable. I was surprised by the fight he put up...25 lbs doesn't sound like it's that big but when I was reeling it felt like 100! lol Once I got it on the boat my arms were so tired I could barely hold it up for the pictures! I think we're going to try to fish for some big tuna over the summer here in NY but I'll have to get some muscle in my arms if I'll be able to reel those in! lol

They definitely are so cool to watch grow! I'm counting on you to produce some combo morphs with the hets this year so we can see what the Motley T pos and Hypo T pos, etc look like. I think they will be so incredible and the curiousity is killing me! It seems like such a long wait to see them! lol
I didn't see the post of your albino motley until it was really buried but congrats on that btw! It looks so nice and I'll bet it will be incredible after it sheds and the color is really in.
Anyway, good luck to you this season!
Take care,
