OK. Here's the deal. My dad (JJay) and I have an egg in the incubator that is 65 day's old. A couple of day's ago it started to shrink in size and sweat. I know that that part is normal. But the problem is that it still isn't hatching. Does anyone have anyclue whatsoever at what this could mean. My dad said that he wasn't completely sure, but thought that it might have died in the egg. Any and all answers appreciated.

I am really not sure but there might be too little or too much moisture.

It’s always best to wait, and don’t do anything drastic like tossing it out or opening the egg. If you see a small slit in the egg, the gecko may have tried to hatch. I’ve had a few leos babies who just couldn’t make it out. If you don’t see a slit in the egg, it would be best to wait. Use a small flashlight to candle the egg; sometimes you can see the baby moving inside. I’ve found it can take from 50-80 days for the females to hatch, so you’re still well within that period. Best of luck, and let the forum know if you have more questions.

I have candled the egg and do see a shadow but no movement. I have never heard of eggs taking more than 65 days but I will leave it in there and see.

Thanks again!

I have seen eggs swell dramatically before hatching, but not shrink. Shrinking does not seem like a good sign. In any case, it's best just to leave it be and hope it hatches.
