shedding question

JillianLamorie Jun 26, 2006 04:55 PM

My Beardie did a little month stint where she wasnt eating as much and she was pretty much just a sleeper.
Anyhow, now that the sun is out, and it isnt constantly raining in Alberta, she's back to herself. she's eating like a piggy, and poos properly, her UV light is new, and her basking temps are good for a nine month old beardie. She's about 15 or 16 inches long, havent measured her much lately.

Anyway, my main concern is she hasnt shed in about three months. (three weeks before she got all sleepy, that semi brumation month in may. and june) so....I'm wondering if she'll ever shed again! i know its silly, because her belly is getting that offwhite yellowish colour. But still. a beardie owner does worry.

She's been eating steadily for about two weeks now, and im just wondering how long between sheds is common for a bearded this age. She used to shed, then have a week before it began again. I miss that. It was so fun to watch her grow so quickly.

Anyway.
If anyone has any comments on how often their juvie sheds, or why she might have just had a little slump like that. it'd be appreciated.

once bearded dragons are over a year old, they don't shed as much. If yoru dragon is still under 14 months old, something else may be preventing her from shedding. Either she isn't getting enough food, or something is preventing her from getting all the nutrients from her food.

Best thing to do is weigh her and monitor her weight gain. Also, get a fresh poop sample to your vet for a fecal. Parasites can prevent growth. If the fecal is clean and she is slowly gaining weight, then she will eventually shed. If she is a really light color, it may not show as much when she is about to shed than on other dragons.

One last thing, why aren't you posting in the Canadian forums? LOL really hard to make it exciting and busy there when the bulk of my fellow Canadians post here instead LOL (just in case you never knew there was a Canadian version of kingsnake, here is the addy: www.kingsnake.ca
