Oh wow... are you kidding? You are in prime snaking territory if you have a bike.... lol. Just take rt. 17 south a few miles (maybe 10 minutes) and you're in prime territory. If you're into lifting stuff, stay east of 17. Every left turn (while heading south) seemed to have a spot afew years ago. I'm sure it's quite the same today. Expect anything from Corn snakes, Hognose, Kings, Mole Kings and Watersnakes to Copperheads (quite common), Water Moccasins and even Canbebrakes fairly frequently.
Great tip... there was a spot on the east side of 17 in McClelanville that had tons of great tin to life. It was just north of a Teaxaco gas station. It was an abandoned field with many pieces of tin to lift. Always good for at least one snake.. sometimes a few.
Good luck... now i'm going searching for Kark Cauffelds famous snake hunting spot... Crossley! (as in "Crossley Pines and Corns)! Wish me luck... i've been searching for it for years.
