..........Marketing, They are just describing thier animals for sale...Using terms is common.....Its a proven fact by advertising like that people will be drawn to your add, It worked cause you looked at thier add..

I don't think it would make much sense for them to advertise "Plain ol Albinos"...LOL

People like that make it CONFUSING for newbies. MAybe if they put "plain ol albino" i would have trust in them for being HONEST. I would not buy a boa that some just gives a name to it to make it seem like somthing it is not. Why can't people just be straigt foward and honest? is that to much to ask???? I KNOW someone that has a BUBBLE GUM albino boa and paid ALOT for it because it was reprsented as a higher grade albino. The albino I picked up at a retile show was half the price and nicer looking.

The difference on the Albinos may not be apparent until they start to mature. Some Albinos tend to "fade" as they mature. Others "gain" color. Perhaps the more expensive ones or the ones from these different named bloodlines are ones that gain color.

Scarlet Hypos for instance were first produced by Jeff Ronne. They are the result of selective breeding combination of his Pastel Dreams and Hypomelanistic boas.

Rich Ihle has a female salmon named Cotton Candy, and the salmons she produces are named after her.

There are a LOT of names that are just thrown in. You'll have to learn over time what is what, there really is no other way.

Also beware of people using names of well known breeders and saying their stock came from so and so, if it really did, the original breeder is usually able to verify such a claim.

I'm not sure on the Albinos. Perhaps if you contacted the breeders they could tell you why they have different names. I would guess it's because they've bred them for "high color". Maybe these bloodlines of Ablinos keep their color as they mature.

For the Scarlet Hypos and Pastel Hypos.....

Well, the Scarlet Hypos are intensely colored Hypos that come from a Pastel Dream X Hypo. They have pinks, oranges, and red-orange coloration. Some people say they're "red", but they're really just an intense red-orange color. Of course, they come pretty darn close to red. Pastel Dreams are a proven line of Pastels that can have AMAZING COLOR! This bloodline is proven to add LOTS OF COLOR.

As far as Pastel Hypos go I would guess they from a Pastel X Hypo breeding. Some Pastels are from bloodlines that are proven to enhance the colors of the offspring, while other's are not. It's always best to get one from a proven Pastel bloodline.

In my opinion people should not be putting bloodline labels on their boas unless there is something special about them.

I have seen a "bubblegum" coral albino for sale at one point. It had very unique and intense coral coloration. In that instance I thought the boa had every right to be called its own name.

The "cotton candy" albinos I saw recently look totally normal to my eyes. Not sure about you but when I see marketing ploys that are illogical it doesnt encourage me to buy from them.

I know all those people didn't cross hypos with pastels to get those animals they call "pastel" hypos, worse yet they just look like regular hypos! I have seen maybe 3 or 4 ads total now that looked like real pastel X hypo "pastel" hypos and a couple more where they said the babies were from the breeding of a pastel X hypo.

Some sellers are sneaky and will make out their animals to be more than they are, and some are honest and will tell you all the possible flaws of their animals.

If you are a newbie I suggest you are very careful, and maybe you just read all the ads everyday for a couple months before you spend your money. Trust your eye. Use your search engine to find about the different lines of boas. Talk to people and read all the boas sites. Ask questions.

It's possbile that all these people bred their boas with ones that look Pastel. They could have even bred them with Pastels from a proven bloodline. The problem is that not all Pastels will pass on color. Some just make for a cleaner Hypo. Even when you do have a Pastel that's proven to pass on color you don't get an entire litter of "colorful" animals. You might get lucky and most of them will have additional color. You might get really lucky and there will be a few that will "KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF".

It's only the pick of litter animals that will make you say, "WOW!!!".

Of course, even the ones that don't show color "could" pass on color to their offspring. Just make sure when you buy a "Pastel Hypo" it's from a proven bloodline that has some "KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF" siblings.
