Spotted problems...

drako32186 Aug 01, 2003 05:25 PM

My spotted python is a good striker, but she keeps missing the mouse. And the last 2 times that I've fed her, she's bitten herself. I'm really freaked out about this. I'm not sure if she's clumbsy or if something is really wrong. She's not hurt herslef because I'm there to stop her from eating her tail, but it still worries me. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First relax. She isn't retarded, she is just enthusiastic. If she is young that is probably part of it too. I have a BRB that did this A LOT when she was younger. I learned to lead her away from herself when feeding her and to supervise her eating all the way START to FINISH. Another thing, if she is biting herself when getting the last bit down, like pushing it in too far with her coils and grabbing herself....try going to larger prey. I went from fuzzy mice to big pinkie rats as they are longer and she didn't bite herself when eating them.
