Sick Toad?

Heather_0423 Jun 27, 2006 07:56 AM

My Fowlers Toad hasn't been moveing around very much, and one of her eyes looks like it's cloudy. She will lay in her 'house' all day with her eyes closed, until I go in to feed her (She's still eating 4 crickets a day) then when I put her back, she just goes right back in and closes her eyes.

Any help would be appreciated!

Is it possible that she's getting ready to shed? My little toad was a bit inactive for a day or so and then he shed his skin. I have 2 Fowler's

Aww yours are so cute! And look much smaller then mine.

I'm not sure, I think she has shed twice since I've had her... I saw the first time, and just noticed her color change the second. She didn't seem inactive. But her color is getting dark again, maybe she will shed again soon.

I put her in warm water last night, because I also noticed she hadn't been useing the bathroom. She went, then seemed to be moveing around again. Maybe she just had an upset tummy?

Thank you for your help! Heres a pic of Molly...

I'm glad Molly seems to be doing better. She's a cute chubby little girl! She is much bigger than mine though! Mine are probably still under a year old. I also have three TINY toadlets. They're close to the size of my pinkie fingernail. I gathered a few tadpoles about a month ago from a local creek. They're fun to watch transform.

I'm just over-worried about her, she's been through quite a bit these past couple months... I accidently ran over her with the lawn mower, she (as you can see) lost a back leg. I spent over $500 getting her as normal as she can be. She was doing great until I started noticing that she wasn't as active, I'm hopeing she just had a tummy ache!

Aww a treefrog laid eggs in a pool (for our dogs)we forgot to empty. It was so neat watching them grow! After they had all their legs and almost no tails, we let them go in our 'other acre'. I miss them . But we have about 10 that hatched about a week ago left. I'm thinking they are tree frogs too.

Do you have a UV light on your fowlers all day? I was just curious how much its really needed? I have Molly's on from 9am-7:30pm.

Your site is pretty neat. Your German Sheperds are so cute!

All I use is compact flourescent lights. They're on for about 12 hours a day. Mainly I use the light so the plants in their vivarium grow.

I hope Molly will be okay...I honestly didn't even see that she was missing a leg. Please let me know how she's doing. Good luck with her.

Thanks for the compliment on my website. I haven't updated it in quite awhile!

I have a uv light that the lady at PetsMart told me to get... It seems to be killing the plants though. She also enjoys jumping on the leaves, which kills the leaves :P.

A lot of people have said that. The vet is shocked that she even lived, but she's a tough girl!

Thank you for all your help... She seems to be doing much better. I've been reading tons of books, but nothing seems to help as much as talking with people who actually have a Fowlers.

Thanks!!!!
