Huge Black Milk clutch

RobHaneisen Jun 27, 2006 10:11 PM

Man, this is the type of clutch you like to see. 15 good eggs!

This is from my huge black milk female. She is well over five feet and weighed more than 1,600 grams before breeding.

Last year she only laid one clutch last year late in the season but it was 12 good eggs. She is a 1998 animal and comes from Don Soderberg lines which I'm told is the same as San Antonio Zoo stock.

Awesome clutch! Congrats. That's what we'd all like to see.

My female is in her pre-egg laying shed now and looks really plump. Can't wait to see how many she has inside her.

You are correct! These are eggs from that massive female I had on display in Manchester in 04. Believe it or not she's even bigger now.

Glad to see that male turned out so nice. I've heard similar reports about the female he was sold with from that show.

Aren't they the coolest snakes to hold?

As for your question in another post about decreased feeding this time of year, all my males practically go off feed for almost three months during breeding season. Nothing to worry about.

Excellent! Here's my 2006 clutch. There were 8 eggs when I left for work this morning; she may still have a few left in there.

Nice big eggs. I generally give my snakes a full 24 hours, sometims more to lay their clutches. Good luck with those. What bloodline do you work with?

I had a clutch of 17 eggs on June 3rd, however, one was not as large as the other 16 and it started to go bad a few days later. It was the 7th or 8th egg laid which is a little unusual. The rest all look great.

In 1999 through 2003 I believe I had (3) prs and the best year they produced 40 good eggs that hatched. That was in 2000 I believe. When I sold eveything the feed/shed, etc records went with the animals.

The largest female then laid 15 eggs twice that hatched and it seems like 14 and 13 the other years. I used to take her or her mate to Daytona when I did the shows. He was a little over 6' and she was a tad smaller.

Just got my second clutch last night and these two are the largest I have ever had. Female #2 was purchased as an adult from Al Zulich two years ago and produced 19 eggs (18 good, 1 bad). The second female was purchased as an adult from Dave Niles ( 5 years ago I beleive) and has produced 4 clutches for me and at least 1 from Dave. This year she produced 21 eggs!!! (20 good, 1 bad). I will post a pic of them ASAP. Reason #247 that Black Milks ROCK!

Sweet Phil! Glad that female is doing so well for you. Those are HUGE clutches! Congrats.

Mine should be dropping a clutch any day now.
