I have been thinking about your question and its a hard one. Most tortoise folks do not recommend mixing species and for several good reasons. I personaly feel that it is okay to mix some species if they share the same requirements in terms of habitat and food. Also an initial quarantine is needed when introducing any new animal. But in your case although I have never had that type of tortoise I can't think of a compatible tort since it seems that for tortoises the hingbacks like it wetter than most other torts. How about a girlfriend for him?
