Aww Yeah! Vegas, Threre is Redrock Rec. Area just 20 mins out of vegas to the west. Perfect place to see collareds and chuckawalla's lots of chucks! Collard range from tan/orange to lite greens and yellows. They are kinda hard to find but they are there. See one every other time or so. Chucks everytime, along with common sideblotch lizard and whiptails. Also leopard and horned lizards there but are lot more rare in that area.

Your best bet is before Redrocks Rec. Area Main entrance still in the protect area of redrock (but no entrance fee and more wildlife I.M.O.A.) called Calico Basin clearly marked righthand turn off the main road (Charleston Blvd.) headed to redrock. After the right turn off you'll drive past some very old houses/some new and a few small ranches before getting to the picnic area and meadows perserve(very cool). Some or the area by the meadow/spring perserve is fenced off but you can hike all the redrocks in the background and there is plenty or redrocks !

WOW.. as I was writing this my brother just called me from Red Rock no joke, saying he just saw a collared bigger than he has ever see before off the road with a yellow/orange head brighter than he's ever seen. I asking him if its was a chuck and he is saying no its a collared it doesnt have a fat body or tail like a chuck. skinny tail/ big head / noraml body. That buster didnt call me before going errr!

I found lots of great areas, but not alot of time, I did go on a few hikes and saw some Desert Iguanas, Whiptails, Zebratails and tons of Side Blotch Lizards. The Desert around a small town called Wikiup, was one of the best areas I have seen. I would like to do the trip again, with more time for exploration.
