hey i wrote a few months ago about a 7-8 month old baby garter who had a prolapse. i got some good advice but the prolapse would not go away so i didnt know what to do.
however the baby seems to be surviving.
the prolapse did not go away and was very dry and white despite soaking and keeping clean. i thought the snake was going to die, so i allowed him back with the other snakes, becuase he seemed to take comfort being with them.
i put hydrogen peroxide on it and allowed him to be with the other snakes, just watching him. during this time, one of the other babies also developed a prolapse. (this hasnt happened with any of the other snakes at all.) with soaking it disappeared quickly, but a week later it returned, and would not go away.
with this one also i put hydrogen peroxide on it and let him be with the others. i just thought i was waiting for them both to die.
after a week or so the excess dry skin scraped away in both snakes. i watched them carefully and slowly they began to drink water, and then eat. now they are both eating and pooping normally.
i was certain both would die. maybe they are so young that they are still able to regenerate ?
i am hoping this means they will both survive and feel extremely fortunate.
thanks so much for the advice, there is no sign of this in any of my other snakes and im certainly thankful.
thanks so much..
