question about feeding crickets

This should be in the feeder forum,i know,but its so dead I know ill get no response.When keeping crickets,is there an alternative to keeping them hydrated besides the gel caps from the store..any fruits or veggie?Thanks guys...

keeping a chunk of carrot in with them will help.

Fresh vegetables, like the same greens fed to bearded dragons, will also keep your crickets hydrated. You can also just leave a piece of carrot, potato or slice of orange for moisture as well.

mike i keep 3 to 5 thousand at a time
i never have any troubles, i use sponges cut to the size of jar lids and then soaked just with whatever water the sponge will absorb
i put 2 of these in each rubbermaid tub i have them. it works great and no extra money spent

I thought about trying this as well, but was a little concerned about whether or not the sponges would harbor bacteria easily... Have you had any problems with this?
