OK im starting a enclosure and need help

So i have a tank 29 gal. I had to get it since it has a stand. Filled it with sand and calci sand mix.... gonna get an adult ... have place for him to hide and rock for him to rub against...everything....however main problem is i bought these temp and humidity gauges ...but even for their price they seem cheap. And i bought a porcelain exo terra glow light lamp so it has light at night as well. So far Ive had the cage on for a few hours and it seems that the temperature hasnt risen inside the cage its staying at 75 and i live in a central air house so i cant make my room warmer. I just dont understand why the lamp isnt working and heating the cage. the light is hot but the cage isnt getting hot. I would get a a UTH but the cages stand has no top. The tank sits on the edges so I would have no place to put it. Is there any way i can keep the tank warm.. I would cover the top to keep heat in but that would make it loose ventalation..please help

UTHs can be placed on the sides of the enclosure as well, in fact that is were the "ZooMeds" brand recommends you put them.what do you mean by the stand doesn't have a top? is the glass under the tank exposed? It's a bad idea to use sand on any size gecko. Slate tile is cheap, easy to clean, and looks great. If your tank is tall the light probably won't be enough to raise the ambient air temp. as high as it needs to be. hope this helps
