Gray Band made in China

www.kcrd.com Jun 28, 2006 04:55 PM

Well last night we decided to go east since the last two nights going west gave us nothing but a couple Atrox. So last night we out to Langtry and found a little Texas Night Snake and then on the way back we were spot lighting a cut and one of the guys in the group freaked out and said STOP, STOP! He ran out of the van up to the cut and hung his head in shame, someone in good humor had strategicaly placed a rubber Gray Band on the cut.

SO, needless to say although we were a little dissapointed about the find and the night it did put a little humor in the night.

So in three nights and totaling over 30 hours of hunting we have:

2 Atrox
1 Texas Night Snake
1 Texas Banded Gecko
2 House Geckos
2 Texas Spiny Lizards
1 Canyon Lizard

Black Gap is tonight along with about 100 other people since it rained in Sanderson today. Wish us luck!

You got lucky. I forgot to take some of my cryoherp collection with me this trip.
My favorite is the kid who found the bay of LA rosy boa on Hwy 277. I found him sitting in the middle of the northbound lane, crying, holding the dead snake in his hands. "SOB! I came all the way from Vermont to find a gray banded kingsnake. SOB! I found my first one and SOB! it is a STRIPED ONE. SOB!"

The Irian Jaya carpet that made the rounds on 277 was another fun one.
